Writing Showcase with South Shields Creative Writing @ The Word
Free, booking required
Suitable for ages 16+
South Shields Creative Writing @The Word is one of largest free to attend creative writing groups in the country. Members come from all areas of life with an age range of 20 to 80. Every possible writing genre is represented with poetry and scriptwriting also an important aspect of what we do.
Founded in 2018, the group, currently run by published author Aidan K Morrissey, whose main writing interests are historical novels and crime meets on two Sundays per month at The Word. Aidan is a UK Reviews Editor for the Historical Novel Review and an active member of the Historical Novel Society having organised the 2022 international conference of the Society held in Durham.
The group brings a wealth of writing experience to the table and our aim is to help nurture the creative writing skills of all our members. The group gives writers at all stages, whether writing with a hope of publication or just for personal consumption, to make the most of their writing talents.
The group’s 2024 showcase is an opportunity to hear examples of members’ writing and hear them discuss their writing, writing in general and the group. From illustrated children’s books, unpublished crime and fantasy writing to poetry will be featured.
