David has been a topical and political cartoonist for 50 years. His first cartoon was published in Punch in 1977 and he was a weekly contributor until the magazine closed in 1992.

Working for numerous national newspapers, his cartoons have appeared The Express, Mirror, Guardian, Telegraph, Daily Mail and The Sunday Times. He produced daily pocket cartoons for The Times from 2005 until 2017. During the 1980s, David contributed sketches to the original Spitting Image and he worked on Oink, a comic for young adults created by Tony Husband.
