The North East Speak Their Names – Suicide Memorial Quilt

Free

The North East Speak Their Name suicide memorial quilt is available to view at The Word until 5 August.

The memorial quilt was created in the region by those bereaved by suicide.

120 individual fabric squares were crafted, representing, and honouring loved ones who have died by suicide.

The project is led by Tracey Beadle of the charity Quinn’s Retreat and Suzanne Howes. Both have lost children to suicide and are determined to make a difference and bring hope, in their children’s names.

The quilt aims to provoke thought, be a catalyst for conversations and raise awareness about suicide. Alongside this, the quilt brings hope and healing to those who have lost loved ones.

View the quilt on the ground floor of The Word during our opening times.
