Find out more about writing for magazines with bestselling author Glenda Young. The workshops will include researching your market, pitching an article and how to write and sell short stories. Glenda will cover areas including why you must never underestimate the power of an opening paragraph, how  to submit your work and how to deal with rejection… before trying all over again!

The sessions will take place on:

  • Sat 11 June, 2-3.30pm
  • Sat 25 June, 2-3.30pm

Please note: When booking a ticket you are booking to attend both sessions.

At the end of the first session, homework will be set for attendees. This will involve thoroughly researching the chosen magazine in order to prepare a pitch for an article or an outline of a short story to submit at a later date.

About Glenda Young

Glenda Young is a best-selling author and award-winning writer. She’s the writer of Riverside, a weekly soap opera published in The People’s Friend magazine since 2016. She has also had over 200 short stories published in women’s magazines and anthologies Glenda’s gritty sagas are set in a northeast mining village in 1919 and her cosy crimes are set in modern-day Scarborough and the books are published by Headline. Glenda has also written TV tie-in books for ITV’s Coronation Street and is an award-winning short story writer. She was one of six finalists in the coveted Clement & Le Frenais comedy award in 2019.
