The Summer Reading Challenge is always a popular activity to enjoy each summer. This year’s challenge is called Read to the Beat, inspiring children to explore the connection between stories and songs. The popular annual challenge is organised by The Reading Agency and delivered in partnership with libraries across the country and powered by Universal Music Group UK.

From Saturday 4 July – Saturday 12 September, children can sign up at their local library or online at The Reading Agency: Summer Reading Challenge.

*Please note the below rewards will be granted to children who sign up via their local library, signing up online will grant digital rewards. 

What to do and what you get: 

  • Reading two books gets you: a sticker and collector card per book (up to two), a bookmark, and a certificate when returning books.
  • Get a sticker and collector card per activity (up to two) if you attend two library events, either:
    • one craft activity and one music session (The Word)
    • two craft activities
    • two music sessions ( The Word)
  • Reading another 2 books gets you: a sticker and collector card per book (up to two).

A completed sticker booklet (six stickers in total) will give you a chance to win a prize draw for a family swim pass at Haven Point or a Multi Ball session voucher at Hebburn Central.
