Summer Reading Challenge 2019

4-11 year olds

Join the Summer Reading Challenge 2019!

The Summer Reading Challenge 2019 theme is Space Chase, an out-of-this-world adventure inspired by the 50th anniversary of the first moon landing. Children, aged between 4-11, can sign up to the challenge where they will receive a fold-up card collector folder and join the super space family, The Rockets, for a thrilling mission to track down books nabbed by mischievous aliens! As they read library books, they will collect special stickers to complete their mission folder. Can they find the aliens in time to save the day?

Sign up at The Word or other South Tyneside Libraries* from Saturday 13 July to take part and read six library books of your choice and return them before Saturday 7 September to receive a certificate and medal. There are incentives to collect along the way and it’s totally FREE to take part.

*Please note: you can complete the challenge at libraries across South Tyneside. The challenge will be delivered in the Council’s multi-service hubs (The Word, Hebburn Central, Jarrow Focus and Cleadon Park) and children will be able to complete the challenge across all four libraries. The challenge will also be delivered in the four community libraries ran by volunteer based organisations (Boldon Lane, Boldon and Cleadon, Perth Green and Whitburn) – however, children who sign up to the challenge in these libraries will need to complete their challenge in that specific library.
