Make Do and Mend Sewing Sessions with Gaynor Devaney

Suitable for ages 12+

Explore the possibilities of decorative mending. This workshop will introduce an array of traditional sewing techniques in a creative way. All materials will be provided for you to try:

• Embroidery stitches such as couching, straight stitch and blanket stitch
• Suffolk puffs
• Applique – including needle-turned applique and reverse applique
• Sewing on buttons

Each participant can decide how to use their finished piece of stitching – for example as a pocket, a patch or as a framed textile picture.

Sessions will take place at The Word on Saturday 23 May:

• 10am-12.30pm
•  1.15-3.45pm
