Installation by Laura Robertson

Suitable for all ages

Step back in time and experience the movement and nostalgia of South Shields’ history in a new vivid light.

Contemporary artist Laura Robertson has reconnected with the rich heritage of South Shields restoring archival images of the fairground taken between the 1920s and 1950s, bringing them to life in full colour. Each coloured image was then transformed into a richly textured digital oil painting. The result is an immersive visual journey through a beloved heritage landmark.

See the installation in our ground floor pod until 10 September.

Laura has recently opened an art studio Northern Yin and Yang in South Shields after studying in York and exhibiting across the UK. She uses her knowledge of art theory and light to create experimental immersive projections that combine traditional art mediums in inspiring and surprising new ways.
