Ever wondered what happens between the first draft and the finished book? Inpress return to WRITE Festival to pull back the curtain on the publishing process, bringing together poets, novelists and non-fiction writers alongside the publishers and editors who helped shape their work.

Across three intimate conversations, you’ll hear frank talk about the realities of getting published, the creative partnerships, the compromises, the breakthroughs, and everything the acknowledgements page doesn’t tell you. Each discussion will be followed by a Q&A.

Session 2 – The Many Jobs of a Writer, 12.30pm – 1.30pm

Poets Kym Deyn and Rishi Dastidar explore what it takes to build a working life in poetry: not just writing it, but publishing, editing and championing it. Kym’s debut collection Folkish was published Nine Arches Press after a string of pamphlets and a speculative fiction press of their own founding. Rishi, now on his fourth collection, edits anthologies, chairs a magazine and sits as a trustee for a major literary trust. Budding writers will come away with a clearer sense of the many roles that sustain a life in letters. – BOOK TICKETS
