The official countdown to Christmas will begin with the annual Christmas Lights Switch On. Head down to the Market Place outside The Word and enjoy festive lights, including a glittering Christmas tree, a Christmas Market and entertainment to get you into the Christmas spirit!

Special guests Reggie ‘N’ Bollie will be joining the Mayor of South Tyneside to switch on this year’s festive lights. The music duo, who were runners up in the X Factor 2015 series, will also give a special performance to the awaiting crowd.

The festive entertainment will also include music from singers Jenn Cherene and Channy, stilt walkers, mix and mingle festive characters, as well as an appearance from Dame Bella, Arbuthnot and Puddle from this year’s pantomime at The Customs House, The Lambton Worm.

There will also be The Winter Lights Night Market on the evening providing even more for a perfect Christmas night for the whole family!
