Walking for Wellbeing – Summer Solstice Story Walk: The Groyne and North Marine Park
Come and join us for a pleasant evening walk on the longest day of the year. You’ll hear a few folk tales along the way too!
Full description of walk
We’ll meet next to the Tyne Lifeboat before heading down to the sea front. Our route takes us along the promenade, past the Weebles and down to The Groyne. On return, we’ll walk through the North Marine Park, taking in the superb views across the harbour from the Lawe Top.

- Time – 1 hour 20mins
- Distance – 1.6 miles
- Total height climbed along the route – 80ft
- Terrain – Good footpaths (concrete or tarmac) throughout the walk. There are some moderately steep paths within the North Marine Park.
- Steps – There is a large set of steps leading up into the North Marine Park but these can be avoided with a very slight detour.
- Wheelchair accessible – Yes
- Toilets – Toilets are available at Haven Point Carpark.
