The Four Lakes

The Four Lakes film was made in collaboration with a group of GCSE Photography students from Hebburn Comprehensive School and Amber Films to share the history and experiences relating to Hebburn Lakes through interviews with the public and showing archive material.

The Four lakes in Hebburn were a beauty spot that was shared and visited by local teenagers, families, wildlife enthusiasts and walkers bringing a lot of joy to the community: however tragic events that made national news and outcry caused the lakes to be filled in due to the question of the safety. The film explores the long history of the Lakes, as well as the contrasting natural beauty it offered for the community, with comparisons to other local spots now used for leisure e.g. Hebburn Quarry.
