If you think poetry isn’t for you, think again!
This fast-paced evening promises to deliver high impact poems from many different performers – some will be funny, some will be sad and some may even be controversial. The evening will be a poetic rollercoaster and will showcase both established and amateur poets who will be performing and competing for the audiences’ votes. The votes will eliminate your least favourite poets round by round and ultimately crown our All Star Pro Slam title.
Hosted by nationally known performance poet Kate Fox this exhilarating and sensational evening will feature some of the best poets the North has to offer!
Joining us for the evening is Scott Tyrrell, the BBC Poetry Slam Champion and UK Anti-Slam Champion 2015 and Jenni Pascoe a multi-slam winning North East poet. It promises to be a fantastic event you don’t want to miss.
If you would like a chance to win the title come along to our Poetry Slam Writing Workshops that will help you develop your skills before the event!

- “Scott is one of those rare poets who can have you belly-laughing one moment before stunning you with some powerful poignancy the next. He is a super-engaging performer whose charismatic stage presence is backed up by a depth and diversity of high quality writing.” – Dan Simpson, Canterbury poet in residence 2013-14
- “I have been fortunate to perform alongside Scott on a few occasions at both Glastonbury and Larmer Tree festivals, and each time he has astounded the audience and left them simultaneously creased with laughter and wiping their eyes. Poignant, powerful and undoubtedly poetic” – Joelle Taylor, Slambassadors, the Poetry Society
- “Scott’s poetry is as funny as the finest stand-up comedy with razor sharp punch lines that hit in just the right places. But it also has heart. Scott is one of the best live stand up poets in the country” – Kate Fox, Radio 4 Saturday live poet in residence
