The ‘Men of the Tyne’ will be at The Word on Saturday 19 August to perform songs and stories from their show!
The ‘Men of the Tyne’ consist Tom Kelly, Ian Ravenscroft and Ted Cuskin and they are heading to The Word this August to perform snippets of their show before they return to the Customs House in September to show their film and perform songs and stories.
This is a heart-warming show that captures the stories of men who worked in the Tyne shipyards from the 1950’s to the 1980’s. The shipyards were a symbol of the north-east’s industrial heritage respected throughout the world.
Commissioned by Ray Spencer, of the Customs House, writer Tom Kelly and film maker Andrew Hagan spoke to men who worked on the river and these stories can be found in their film ‘Men of the Tyne’ which features in the show.
