Easter @ The Word

It’s been a very busy Easter here at The Word!

Over the school holidays more than 35,000 visitors of all ages entered the building (possibly all sheltering from the bad weather!)

During the two weeks, we had an amazing programme of sold-out events. Children and parents were told immersive monster-tastic tales in Monster Mash stories; visitors made monster-themed keyrings and coasters with the laser cutters in FabLab sessions; children got creative in themed craft sessions and everyone had so much fun exploring our latest exhibition: Monsters! The Good, The Bad and The Cuddly!

Families were left in stitches by Booster Cushion Theatre’s production of Alan in Wonderland and the Three Goats plus…a new twist on the classic tale where Alice’s brother Alan has to rescue her from the Mad Hatter’s tea party with the help of the Three Billy Goats Gruff (who happen to be Wonderland’s expert troll hunters!)

The monster trail also proved to be very popular, with children searching the building on the hunt for giant paw prints, each of which had a letter to spell out a monster-themed word!

To add to all this excitement, children also had the chance to make their own monster slime, try a range of experiments and create their own monster brain in the popular Science Buddies session.

We have so many more amazing activities lined up for May half-term and summer so make sure to keep checking our What’s On for the latest events: http://theworduk.org/whats-on/
