Celia Bryce shines during The Word’s First Birthday
Celia Bryce took to the stage on Saturday 21 October to perform a variety of songs with her band in celebration of our first birthday.
The atmosphere was electric as The Word Choir and Ukuleles Group began to perform alongside her. Everyone was mesmerised as their voices filled the building.
Ray Spencer, Director of The Customs House said, “I had forgotten what a soulful voice Celia Bryce has.”
Celia has been working as a writer in residence since the beginning of September where she has met with a range of groups in the library.
She said, “I have had such fun coming here. I’ve had a great warmth and welcome from everybody I’ve been visiting.”
“I’ve dropped in on the library matters and I was amazed when I saw the work that these ladies do on Friday mornings.”
It was a fantastic weekend with a variety of events and the whole library was joyful.
Celia said, “There’s so much going on in libraries now, it’s very different to the days of hushed, shadowy corners. I think that’s refreshing, I know that’s not for everybody but I think in the main people enjoy it.”
Let’s continue to fill the library with laughter as we enter our second year with lots of exciting events to look forward to!
